Song spell #15 Funkadelics - Cosmic Slop

 Cosmic Slop

Level: Advanced

Appearance: The caster makes a sudden slicing motion aiming at a victim. The air will suddenly start to scorch creating a blaring sound. A tear appears in reality, opening to reveal a causeway of some nebula deep in some sort of unknown dimension. Stellar fragments spill out as runoff, and once the spell ends the tear envelops itself.

Effect: Cosmic slop is a beam spell that is sustained by the caster. The tear gives off rapid heat and cosmic beams of energy that strike directionally. The causeway while giving off severe heat also emanates billowing vapors that begin to seep through the tear. The caster may choose how large they wish the tear to be and can regulate the level of energy that comes through it. If the caster poorly casts this spell, then the tear will continue to cut through reality until it reaches a point of instability and creates a high energy explosion as the tear envelops itself. The caster must also be wary of sustaining the spell too long as the vapors that accompany the energy beam can be radioactive or poisonous, and despite the vapors dissipating when close enough to the tear, they can gather if propelled out of the tear and begin to accumulate in the air.

Duration: Cosmic slop can be sustained during combat each time the caster makes a successful spellcasting roll during their turn. If they do not the tear resolves itself and the spell ceases function. Outside of combat the spell can be sustained for several minutes after which they must perform the same spellcasting roll. If the roll is successful during combat or out of combat, the caster may change the target by moving the tear.

Range: The beams are line of sight but the emanating burning heat spreads radially and then raises the temperature.

Type: Evocation

This song is one of the introductory songs for the Funkadelics. I had only heard their names and I knew that I had to see what they had to offer. They are as strange and weird and awesome as their reputation would lead you to believe. This song is amazing, and I highly recommend checking out the music video for it with them wandering around the city in ridiculous costumes.
