Song Spell #24 Ian Carr - Caliban

 Caliban

Level: Legendary

Appearance: The caster will summon Caliban, a golden gargoyle with kaleidoscopic eyes, who will obliterate all the caster chooses with an array of dreadful rays that beam from Caliban's eyes. Caliban has horns all over their body, concentrated on the side of their head and on their arms as well. Caliban speaks with a hypnotic cadence and their voice captivates anyone listening, inspiring allies, and terrifying foes. Caliban is immobile and the caster must choose where Caliban will perch. Caliban shifts through many faces, with each beamsight bearing a new fearsome face. Caliban when dispelled resembles a puzzle of themselves and begins to move and shift until they have totally collapsed in on themselves and disappeared completely from the naked eye.

Effect: Caliban is indestructible and possesses 5 beamsights that they utilize to destroy foes. A list of the beamsights that Caliban has can be found below:

Plasma ray - This beamsight creates a superheated ray that can be altered in shape or diameter, allowing the ray to hit many targets or only one. The energy is magically confined to the ray, so no heat is felt close to the ray until it makes contact. This beamsight is marking by a thin and crooked smile.

Particle ray - This beamsight bathes objects in a shimmering energy filled with cascading patterns and tessellating geometry. Particle ray will dismantle or piece anything together, placing any object into any configuration the caster wishes. The beam may also mutate targets or leech their memories. Particle ray also can power simple machines and anything more complex as long as the beam is sustained upon it. The machines will function very efficiently. This beamsight is marked by a very ambiguous expression.

Dread ray - This beamsight will darken the room, destroying any magical light sources. A fog will billow from Caliban's mouth, enveloping the targets. The fog magically inflicts panic, depression, terror, and despair in any order and any duration that the caster chooses. The fog also weakens the afflicted, making them unable to carry their weapons. If the fog remains on someone for a long enough time, they lapse into a magical sleep of nightmares that renders them comatose. This beamsight is marked by a frown.

Disintegration ray - This beamsight must be focused by the caster on one target, and it will obliterate the foe in seconds unless they have magical armor or are magically protected, which if it’s any less than advanced magic, the target still won’t have long until their remains are aerosolized into the air. This beamsight is marked by a terrible scowl.

Reversal ray - This beamsight manifests as an aura, which washes out color and drowns out all sound. The caster may choose who they want to remove from where they are as long as they are an ally and the caster can transpose whoever they chose to a previous location. Caliban will do this by spinning their head in a circle and channeling the strange aura, and you will appear where you chose, and Caliban will no longer be with you. This beamsight is marked by a fearful face.

Caliban before doing the bidding of the caster, will ask them their purpose in this combative situation. Caliban has respect only for ambition and honor, and they cannot be lied to even if magic is involved. Caliban will not do anything if you lie to them when Caliban asks, and furthermore will scorn you for your dishonesty. Caliban cannot be recast until 7 cycles have passed.

Duration: Caliban lasts an entire round and will have to chance to attack every target on their turns.

Range: The beams are LOS for Caliban, and their eyesight is superior to most lifeforms.

Type: Evocation
